Ondo PDP Suspends Former Chairman and Four Others After Visit to Fayose
Members of the party who were suspended are former state chairman of the party in Ondo State, Ebenezer Alabi; former lawmaker, Rasheed Elegbeleye; former Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka; Oyedele Ibini, and Lad Ojomo.
The suspended persons are said to be part of a delegation that paid a visit to former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, to solicit support for a chieftain of the party, Eddy Olafeso, who aspires to become the Zonal Vice Chairman of the party in the South-west.
The party’s spokesman, Kennedy Peretei who stressed that their suspension was in line with Section 58 (1)(a)(b)(f) and (h) of the Party Constitution (2017 as Amended), also denounced the visit to Mr Fayose amid the division in the party along the support lines of Mr Fayose and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
The statement read;
“By this decision, they are expected to stop parading themselves as members of the party. All organs of the party are to take note in this regard. They stand suspended until the outcome of the report of the State Disciplinary Committee.”
The State Working Committee also dissolved the State Elders Committee. The statement added;
“In accordance with the provisions of our constitution (2017 as Amended), another State Elders Committee will be constituted in due course. We also want to put it on record that, the State Executive Committee of the PDP in Ondo State did not send any delegation to anywhere to represent the Party.Whoever lays claim to such is an impostor and does not represent the opinions of our teaming supporters in the State.”However reacting to the suspension, Fadaka allaged that it ”was part of the dirty politics to keep him away from clinching the position during the congress”.
He told Premium Times;
“Fayose is supporting us but governor Makinde is not, so they decided to suspend me indefinitely so that I cannot be elected.I did not do anything. I am not a person who will be involved in anti-party activities, it is just to keep me from being elected. No reason other than a blanket tag of anti-party activities have been established by them as the basis for this step.”

"The most magnanimous and the act of generosity which beats everyone's imagination is when the governor declared that the palliatives are not meant for the PDP party members alone. And as we can all see that was what we did.Imagine a palliative activities done by a government of the state where there was no PDP logo, no umbrella, no scarf, no broom etc. So, this is to show that everybody is an indigen of Oyo State."

SAD! NBA Ibadan Chapter Eulogises Late Akinjide, Mourns With Family, Loved Ones
FNSE; the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Olasupo Adetunji,
Aje Ogungunniso I; and the Yoruba Council of Elders on the departure of an illustrious son of
Ibadan. Oyo State and Yorubaland,” the statement reads in part.
the Executive Committee and the entire members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan
Branch, issues this statement on the transition of our revered Patron, Chief Richard Osuolale
Abimbola Akinjide SAN, CON in the early hours of Tuesday, 21 April, 2020.
the opportunity to continue to drink from his deep well of wisdom and experience, the Nigerian
Bar Association, Ibadan Branch, believes it is also a time to celebrate the life and times of our
illustrious and highly revered Patron. Chief Richard Akinjide was called to the Nigerian Bar in
1956, two years after the Western Nigeria Bar Association (now known as Nigerian Bar
Association, Ibadan Branch) was established. He had earlier been called to the Bar in England
after his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at the University of London and vocational
training as a lawyer.. He never severed his link with the legal profession in England. Chief
Richard Akinjide always saw Ibadan Bar as his older brother by two years. It is remarkable to
note that Chief Richard Akinjide assumed office as the fourth Chairman of NBA Ibadan Branch
in 1969 after holding very important state offices including that of a cabinet minister. He did not
consider serving in the local Bar demeaning to him after being a Federal Minister.
indicates he has many successors-in-office in the profession and in public offices. We feel elated
to be Baba’s successors in our capacities as members of the Executive Committee of the Nigerian
Bar Association, Ibadan Branch. Baba Akinjide had openly acknowledged that the office of the
Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch opened up to him many other opportunities
to serve the legal profession in Nigeria. From the office of Chairman, NBA Ibadan Branch, Chief
Richard Akinjide moved to the office of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association where he
served for three years. It was during Chief Akinjide’s presidency that the Constitution of the
NBA was amended to limit the maximum term a person could spend to 2 terms of two years
(each term being for one year then) but he got a third term as the Annual General Meeting
resolved that the restriction on the maximum of two terms would not apply to him since its
decision could not have retrospective effect. Chief Richard Akinjide SAN was in the second set of Senior Advocates of Nigeria sworn in on 12 January 1978. At the time of his transition, Chief
Richard Akinjide SAN was the Chairman, Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) by
virtue of being the “most senior” Senior Advocate in Nigeria.
of Justice under President Shehu Shagari. As Attorney-General of the Federation he appeared in
courts frequently to argue cases on behalf of the Federal Government. He did not seek a second
term in office to enable him devote more attention to an assignment he had undertaken to
perform for the International Law Commission of the United Nations. Whilst he was Hon.
Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Richard Akinjide SAN also had the privilege to serve

biological, professional, political and social. We must say some of Baba’s professional children
did not meet him in person but were enamoured and inspired by the dignity, grace, candour,
diligence, assiduousness, calm disposition, friendliness and charisma he brought to the
performance of his tasks, be they assumed, assigned or thrust upon him by Providence. Chief
Richard Akinjide was no doubt a most distinguished advocate, a man of great learning and
erudition and an astute administrator. He also influenced the decisions of many young persons,
many of whom have now attained eminent positions in the legal profession, to pursue careers in
law in general and in advocacy in particular. Thanks be to God.
many politicians of that generation, their immediate concern was to fight for Nigeria’s
independence. As a nationalist he joined others to achieve this. He was a Member of the House
of Representatives. He was one of the politicians privileged to hold public offices after
independence. He served as Minister of Education in the First Republic in the Cabinet of Prime
Minister, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, before the Military coup of January, 1966. He
embraced fairness and equity in the discharge of the functions of his office. Chief Richard
Akinjide SAN carried his profession into politics. He did not abandon his profession whilst in
politics. He effectively combined practice of law with politics and this made his transition to life
as a private legal practitioner when he left political offices smooth and seamless.
unsavoury language to describe his political opponents. If others chose to play low he would
maintain his dignified posture and culture. He played politics without bitterness. At his family
compound in Ile Aperin, when Chief Akinjide stood election for the office of the Governor of
Oyo State on the platform of NPN in 1979, another family member, Alhaji Busari Obisesan, also
a reputable legal practitioner, was the gubernatorial candidate for the Mallam Aminu Kano-led
People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in the same election. Chief Akinjide’s friends, associates and
admirers cut across political divide.
serve as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Jos (1976-
1979). In appreciation of his diligent service the university honoured him with an honorary
doctorate degree. At the University of Ibadan, Chief Richard Akinjide SAN was at the inception
of the LLM programme a member of the Faculty. He gratuitously shared knowledge acquired in
his foray into Arbitration, a discipline where he developed himself and which, according to him,
brought him tremendous joy and satisfaction. This afforded the students a unique opportunity to
blend their theoretical knowledge with practice experience. Chief Akinjide SAN did not just
impart knowledge under the auspices of Nigeria’s premier university, he also shared his
resources with the institution by endowing prizes in the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan just
as he had done at the Nigerian Law School and in the University of Jos.
in the sands of time. His passage is indeed the end of an era. For many in the legal profession,
Nigeria’s Second Republic has just ended.
Chief Akinjide’s life taught us that politicians can be civil in their speeches; they can speak the
language of royalty. They can also play issue-based politics rather than politics of mud-slinging
that often characterises our political space. He also demonstrated consistency in politics and
fidelity to his political ideology. In effect, the political adventures of an individual need not
swing like a pendulum between the two extreme angles in the crass pursuit of brighter electoral
fortune. As a democrat he took the position that whatever belonged to all should be decided by
all. As a lawyer, he was committed to the Rule of Law and Constitutionalism. As a leader in the
society person, he carefully refrained from the quest for vain glory, public adulation and
publicity for his acts of benevolence.
community Nigeria project and Africa Renaissance being a critical stakeholder in the three. He
engaged in deep and reflective interrogations about the legal profession, the past and future of
Nigeria and the place of Africa in the emerging world economic order. He published numerous
titles on these subjects. Chief was an advocate of continuing legal education and specialisation in
the practice of law. This he did, not merely through words but through his personal example.
However, he counselled that specialisation should come after some years of generalist practice as
there might be need to fall back on one’s generalist knowledge even in the most intractable area
confronting an expert. He advised lawyers to live in the largest room in the world: the room of
improvement and self-development. His eagerness to propel lawyers to embrace technology to change the landscape of legal practice has challenged the mental complacency of many legal
practitioners and enlarged the group of frontline legal practitioners in Nigeria. He championed the argument for the decentralisation of the Nigerian Law School when there was only one campus.

professionals for every simple task. In preparing a counsel for maritime law practice he did not
hesitate to engage a versatile port official, a professional in the field to put counsel through
practical issues in the industry. Excellence was his watchword. With Baba’s departure, the world
of learning, history, and arts, has lost a rare gem and a great enthusiast.

COVID-19: Oyo Lawmakers Donates 30 Percent Monthly Income to Civil Servants Salaries
According to reports reaching Teelamford, The 30 percent deduction includes both the Lawmakers salaries and other monthly allowances entitled to them as State Honorables.
This sacrifice will be made by Political office holders in the State to ensure that the regular payment of Civil Servants salaries is not affected irrespective of the economic situation.
The agreement was reached when the Governor of the state, Engr Seyi Makinde met with the State's Lawmakers at the Government house, last weekend.
At the meeting, it was learnt that the Governor explained that the Pandemic had resulted in about 60 percent dropped in federal allocation and it is taking tool on the State's economy.
Also, the Chairman of the Oyo State Committee on Information and Media, Honorable Kazeem Olayanju said the Lawmakers agreed to the slash in the interest of the smooth running of the state.
In his words, he said;
"Our income has been slashed by 30 percent as our support towards COVID-19. The governor brought the idea and we agreed that effective this month, there should be the 30 percent deduction.
We were made to understand that the Pandemic had greatly affected the economy of the state and our country Nigeria, as well as the Federal Government has reduced allocation by 60 percent.
This situation could have affected regular payment of the Civil servants salaries in Oyo State but the governor maintained that irrespective of the economy situation of Oyo State, the salary of the civil servants must not be affected.Hence, we agreed that Political office holders should make sacrifice."

Gov Seyi Makinde Volunteers To Donate Blood For COVID-19 Research
According to him, his blood will be studied by experts for the evaluation of post infection protection against the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
Makinde who is a survivor of the disease made this known on Wednesday in a tweet via his official twitter account.
Read below;
“We have been advocating for local solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oyo State.
So, as a COVID-19 survivor, I volunteered to donate my blood to be studied by our experts researching on the “Evaluation of Post Infection Protection Against SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) in Nigeria”
Recall that the Governor recently advocated for local solutions to the Covid-19 which has killed thousands of people in the world.
Gov Seyi Makinde also said:
“We are looking at local solutions. I know that a lot of people have been calling me all sorts of names on the social media but, from my experience, one thing that I know you have to do to conquer the virus is that you have to boost your immunity. We do have local solutions and, of course, we have to defer to experts’ opinion as part of the home-grown solution to deal with COVID-19.
People may ask if we have been funding the research institutes very well. They may even ask if we are in a position to bring any kind of solution to the world. My answer is yes. Even chewing something like bitter-cola. When the Western world is having flu season, they have flu shots. But here, we have things like catarrh. When we are crossing over from dry season to rainy season, people almost always fall sick. Cold, cough, catarrh, we have ways of dealing with all of these locally.
So, except a solution comes from the Western or Eastern world, I won’t say that we cannot deal with it. I believe we have the capacity. We have the intellect to look at things that work locally and we will keep encouraging that. We have the capacity to also validate some of the results that we are going to be getting.
They did clinical trials for chloroquine and some other medications but these are things we take normally here. So, we are not ruling out local solution to this pandemic.”

Eruwa Youth Forum Opposes Alleged Plot Against Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin
The National President of the organization, Mr Oladejo Ajibola Muyiwa in a statement issued to newsmen in Eruwa called on all Oyo assembly honorables to support Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin's leadership as he is always working towards building a better working relationship between the Executive and Legislature.
Oladejo also made it clear that the alleged impeachment move against the Oyo Assembly leadership is a plot against Governor Seyi Makinde's administration. It's a plan to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in PDP and in the whole state.
In his words, he said;
"At a time when the whole world is fighting a common enemy, COVID-19 and Governor Seyi Makinde's administration is doing great to combat the spread, then the unpatriotic ones feel it's a time to play dirty and unnecessary politics. This is shameful as this is a time when all hands should be on deck, this is a time when people's lives should be priotized".Oladejo said the alleged plotters were hiding under the pretext of an issue that's not related to Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin at all.
According to him;
"Ostensibly, they claim to address what they term urgent state issue that's in no way related to Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, however their real purpose is to unnecessarily create tension in Oyo State House of Assembly".Source: Eruwa Youth Forum (EYF)

A Must Read – Com. Oluwafemi Ogunshola Writes Open Letter To Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluwaseyi Makinde
Talking about the situation of the institution, he asked the Governor and the Oyo State Government at large to do something about the problems affecting the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa (AOPE) as he pointed out some vital points affecting the institution.
Sending out the message, Com. Oluwafemi Ogunshola also said that he hope that Governor Seyi Makinde will give his letter an utmost attention and consideration.
Read the full Letter below;
"OPEN LETTER TO EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE
Engr Seyi Makinde
-Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Needs Your Swift Actions
2nd March, 2020
Your Excellency Sir,
I had wanted to wait until May 29 to write this letter to you, but my anxiety and joy in reaching you before then is indeed necessary and imperative. I may not write another letter towards the end of the year again, but should there be any need to pen down an open letter I will not hesitate.
It is with great delight that I am writing this letter to you as a good indigene of The Pacesetter who wants a great future for the good people of Oyo State.
Your Excellency sir, I am one of those who have continued to admire you for the good works you have been doing in Oyo State in general but I would love to quickly remind you of my Previous letter dated May 27th, 2019 barely 48hours to your swearing-in. I appreciate your swift response then, it shows your Leadership acumen and capacity.
Again, I most humbly and respectfully request to trespass into your already crowded schedules, asking that you kindly grant me audience in my humble attempt to bring to Your Excellency's notice, the state of the present day Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic
Well, as a matter of fact and urge, am not happy with the Present state of things over there, The Fact this great citadel of learning is in my fatherland, heaven will not forgive me if I don't draw your attention to STAGNANCY battling AOPE.
In other not to waste out of your busy schedule, sir I know the Visitation Panel had submitted their report to you over past months. But what still baffles me is the fact that nothing is yet to be implemented.
To my own young man Knowledge, I can summarize the main problems of my alma mater into three Headings:
1. Leadership crisis
2. Accreditation delay
3. Non-Availabilty of CBT Facilities
In this letter I would have love to discuss deep about the Leadership crisis but I think the best your government can do is simply to Constitute the Governing council, afterwards Constitute the Principal officers, this is very necessary at this crucial time
Harry S. Truman said and I quote "In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better."
On issue of Accreditation, am fully aware of your effort so far towards actualization of this exercise but yet I will still charge you to put more effort by pressing necessary button to fast track the process. Many would have wandered that what is still the accreditation after various equipment and necessities is already on ground. On countless occasion I have received various call that "Femi the accreditation you and the Present Government promised is it audio? It has gotten to the apex that I don't even know what to tell those who believed am on of your core loyalist. It is on this note I charge you to do the needful. If this is achieved believe me sir the student community and people of Ibarapa will pass their vote of confidence in you in totality.
Last but not the least, The issue of non- availability of CBT facilities. It is a big slap on my face when I realize a whole Polytechnic of ours can't accommodate UTME candidate but rather risk the lives of our younger ones to go down to either Igboora or Ibadan for their registration. It's hightime the CBT facilities is updated to standard of other schools.
While anticipating a responsive action on the above, I hope that you will give this letter your utmost attention and consideration because a stitch in time save nine
God Bless Oyo State.
God Bless Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic
