Saki, Eruwa, Idi Ape Road Contracts Set To Be Revoke By The Oyo State Government

Saki Eruwa Idi Ape Road Contracts To Be Revoke Oyo State Government
About four contractors that have failed to meet up with performance specifications and time lag in Oyo State will soon have their contracts terminated.

This hint was given on Monday morning by the State Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, Prof. Rapheal Afonja at his office in Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde has recently said the administration was compiling list of non-performing contractors in the State as he lamented the agony being experienced by the people living in the affected areas where road construction works were ongoing.

In his words, Afonja said “we have got complaints across the State about pace and quality of work done by these contractors, His Excellency the governor also inspects the pace of work during the day and even in the night, I can tell you now that soon, termination notice will soon be given to four non-performing contractors.
“Complaints have come across the State and when we came on board, we had to do a contract review and we realized that the quality of work done by some of these contractors were low, we also realized that most of the agreements have also relapsed and none of them had performance bond in their files, the performance bond is a way to tell a contractor that if you don’t do a good job, you will be penalized.
“So we gave them time, which is the past five months which was to see if they could impress the government, we gave them our standard, our requirements, some of them have not lived up to it while some have, so with the approval of the governor, the next step is to issue termination notice to some of them.”
Among the contracts inherited by the present administration and are still ongoing as at time of this report is the dualization of Idi-Ape-Basorun-Akobo-Odogbo Barracks road in Ibadan and dualization of saki township along Oke-Ogun Poly-Ilesha-Ibariba road in Saki.
Others are Eleyele Junction-Akufo-Ido-Eruwa road, reconstruction of Moniya-Iseyin road and Agodi-Gate-Old Ife Road, Adegbayi in Ibadan.
Meanwhile the State government has said that the introduction of a new Park Management system in the State was aimed to plug holes in the income of of the State and not for political reasons.
The Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, Prof Raphael Afonja said this while answering questions from journalists who were at his office after the inauguration of Park Managers for public motor parks in the State on Monday.
The Commissioner asserted that the people of Oyo State were happy that leaks in the State’s income were plugged while individuals appointed would work with trusted consultancy firm to generate income for the State, using technology to monitor activities and accountability of all players while all funds generated would go into the State coffers.

Oyo State Government Inaugurated Park Managers in 33 Local Governments As Auxiliary Speaks On His Role As Disciplinary Committee Chair Of The Parks Management

Oyo State Government Inaugurated Park Managers 33 Local Governments Auxiliary Speaks Role Disciplinary Committee Chair Of The Parks Management
Today the Oyo State Government Inaugurated Park Managers in 33 Local Governments across the state, where Auxiliary Speaks On His Role As Disciplinary Committee Chair Of The Parks Management.

Also inaugurated on Monday are the two Disciplinary Committees which are to intervene whenever conflicts arise between the Oyo State Government and Park Managers on the operations of the parks.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja, who inaugurated the Park Managers and the Disciplinary Committees at the Conference Hall of the Ministry, said that the new Park Management System, PMS, would bring sanity in the management of motor parks in the state.
Afonja, who further clarified that the Park Managers will be coordinated by a Consultant to ensure compliance with the terms of reference, while the Disciplinary Committees would intervene where there are issues between the State Government and the Park Managers, stated that the new Park Management System (PMS) would aid the efforts of the state government to double the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in inherited from the previous administration.
The Commissioner said: “This instruction was given by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde. It is a new PMS that we are implementing. We are trying this to make sure we bring in a better structure into our motor parks and garages.
“Soon, other things like infrastructure will fall in place. So, for the main time, these people have been assigned to take charge of the parks on behalf of the state government.”.
He added that the new PMS architecture has no links with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), as according to him, the managers were engaged by the government to ensure that financial leakages are blocked and that “there is increase in the internal revenue of the state.”
He stated: “This is not a union matter at all, as the PMs are basically employed by the state government. One of the things the governor is doing is to ensure that leakages are blocked and that there is an increase in the revenue of the state. So, that is why we have this management system in place; to coordinate on behalf of the government.
“Another reason that the governor is doing this is to avoid violence among the unionists, because our people feel insecure whenever issues of NURTW come up in the state.
“If there is anyone who, in some way, wants to threaten the peace of the state, such a person will face the wrath of the law. Governor Makinde is the number one citizen of this state and he has all rights to do what is good for the people of the state.
“We are asking the PMs and the committees to make sure that there is no traffic congestion in our state. They should coordinate Parks and make sure that the revenues, which the state is entitled to, get into the state coffers. These are the things this government is concerned about.
While speaking as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Alhaji Lamidi clarified that he was not selected into the Committee because of his links with the NURTW, adding that his appointment as Disciplinary Committee chairman “is different from his role as a union member.”

He said: “First, let me thank God. I also appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde and God will always guide his steps aright. I want to assure the people of Oyo State that this position we have assumed is different from that of the union. It is very different because the governor said he does not want to hear about union in this state until all our internal crises are resolved.
“By God’s grace, I am assuring the people that we will be positive role models. We will work hard to ensure that peace reigns in this state and the park fee that is currently on the high side will even reduce.
“I also want the people to know that we have resolved and are really ready to help the government to get enough funds to boost the internally generated revenue of the state in a peaceful manner.”

Checkout Governor Makinde's Reaction To Lanlehin’s Withdrawal From Coalition

Gov Seyi Makinde Reaction To Lanlehin’s Withdrawal From Coalition
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde Reacts To Lanlehin’s Withdrawal From Coalition.

Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed shock over claims made by the  gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC  in the last general elections, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin over the coalition agreement.

Recall that report had it earlier that Lanlehin announced his withdrawal from the coalition government over non compliance of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Makinde in a statement issued by his Political Adviser, Babatunde Oduyoye said the claims by Lanlehin are untrue, unjustifiable and inconsistent with reality.

Read the full statement below:

Press Release

Oyo coalition: Setting the records straight

We received with shock, claims credited to the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Femi Lanlehin, that he has withdrawn his support for the coalition birthed by a number of political parties ahead of the March 9, 2019 election in Oyo State.

It is more shocking to read Senator Lanlehin’s allegation that his decision was hinged on Governor Seyi Makinde’s infidelity to the coalition agreement.

That allegation, to say the least, is a clear affront on the sincerity of Governor Makinde and his magnanimous disposition in handling all the discussions about the coalition.
Let us also state without equivocation that the claim by the Senator is untrue, unjustifiable and inconsistent with the reality of it all.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategy and Political Matters, Honourable Babatunde Oduyoye, on Tuesday, maintained that the governor could not be accused of non-compliance by any party, because he had lived up to his promise to all parties to the coalition and in some cases “even bending backwards to accommodate all interests.”
He said that the Governor has lived up to his promise not only to Senator Lanlehin but also to all members of the coalition, saying that the committee reached an agreement, which was signed by all the parties and tabled before the Governor.
He said that the agreement contained a template for the sharing of positions in government as well as membership of boards and parastatals, noting that procedures have been set in motion for the actualization of the template.
According to Oduyoye, the apex committee of the coalition parties had met over three times, with agreements reached and tabled at a meeting with the Governor, adding that the Governor even improved on the agreement to further accommodate interests in the ADC and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The statement further read: “There was no dissenting voice from all the representatives of the parties at the meeting with Governor Makinde. Everyone commended how he handled the matter. Senator Lanlehin only had issues with the other leaders of the ADC on Monday when they were discussing how to share the positions allotted to the ADC.
“He should not in any way attempt to drag the name of Governor Makinde to the frustrations he is encountering in his party.
“If Senator Lanlehin withdraws from the coalition, he must have done so as an individual, because we are aware that the ADC as a party remains an integral part of the coalition as leaders of the party have repeatedly pledged their fidelity to the coalition.
“We believe that the coalition was not put together merely to further any personal aspiration other than the collective interests of the people of Oyo State.”

Hon. Babatunde Oduyoye
Special Adviser Strategy and Political Matters, to the Governor of Oyo State.

Gov. Seyi Makinde Inherited N150bn Debt, Threatens to Expose His Predecessor, Ajimobi If He Don't Stop Disturbing His Administration

Gov. Seyi Makinde Inherited N150bn Debt, Threatens to Expose His Predecessor, Ajimobi If He Don't Stop Disturbing His Administration
Oyo State Governor, Governor Seyi Makinde has claimed that his administration inherited a minimum debt of N150 billion, adding that his administration is still checking the books to determine the actual total debt.

Governor Makinde made the claim in a media chat on the state television on the occasion of his one month in office.

It was gathered that the governor threatened to expose his predecessor, Abiola Ajimobi, if he does not keep quiet about his (Makinde’s) administration.

He said;
We have confirmed N150b debt so far. We are still working to discover any other one. Some of them may be questionable. If you take bond, it is always tied to a particular project. If we want, we can do value-for-money audit.”
According to Gov Makinde, Oyo state receives N4.5b federal allocation while salaries and pensions stand at N5.5b, leaving the state with a shortage of N1b.

The governor, however, said that all those facts were not big problems, adding that he would only be needing the support of the people to succeed and overcome all the challenges.

The Governor also said:
Our focal point is how to strengthen the economy of the state so that all and sundry will prosper. But I will expose them if they don’t want to stop disturbing us. When we do, they won’t be able to move in the streets.”

HON ADEBO OGUNDOYIN; A New Dawn Not A New Down – Ashiwaju Aborode Taofeek Oyeniyi

Congratulations to Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin on his inauguration as Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly. It is no surprise for me as I have stated in my article published on March 4 before the 2019 election. I wrote that provided Seyi Makinde wins and you also, the seat of the speaker is meant for you. This is a very big feat for eruwa, Ibarapa and Oyo state. To have the youngest and also the most vibrant speaker in Nigeria is historical and of great loudness. This feat won’t be achievable without the support of Eruwa community that voted for you and also Eruwa elders who supported your ambition irrespective of their choices during election. Also, massive regards to Yeye Tina Ogundoyin for this dream come true.

But amidst the celebrations of this victory, I would like to remind you of some things and also bring to your observation some other things.

Hon Speaker sir, it is of great importance to know that you are now the political leader of Eruwa and the entire Ibarapa land. Every political happening in the region will be attributed to you even if it’s in no way associated with you. In your interest and to also protect both your personal and political image, please pick at least 3 good political analysts who have knowledge of the past and vision for the future to be part of your official team. Also carefully pick your media aides as they play a very important role in representing you in modern day politics.

Knowing fully well that a lot of people are of great assurance that you will deliver, there are also a lot expecting you to fail. It’s very normal in this world where every individual is sentimental in nature. Its left to you to decide the side that will win sir. A lot of young people all over the nation now see you as a role model and you will be used as a case study often on media and several meetings all over Nigeria and even abroad. If you succeed, a lot of people will succeed and if you fail, a lot of people will fail too as you carry a lot of destinies on your shoulder knowingly or unknowingly. Loyalty to the Governor’s developmental agenda, loyalty to the party and most importantly, loyalty to the masses will earn you several more powerful positions in the nearest future. You should consider this as a test for future positions. It’s of notable importance that if a governor will come from Ibarapa region, the prophesy is meant for you. For those that will ignore this and say Ibarapa is small, Imo state should be an example for them. The region ruling Imo state presently is Mbasae. Further research can be done by interested people.

With so much confidence, I believe you know what to do for your constituency and oyo state at large having studied your manifesto very well but irrespective of that, let me quickly remind you of some particular projects before concluding this article. Using your father’s achievements as part of your campaign tools is not just politics. Going by history, your late dad Chief Ogundoyin was one of the brightest stars Eruwa has ever produced with certainty that his name will live forever as long as Eruwa lives.

He started Ogundoyin babes, a football club in the Nigeria Premier league then. He saw the future when he started the football club. We now have a lot of soccer talents in Eruwa of which some are getting signed abroad. I will plead with you to revive Ogundoyin babes sir. It is not difficult to do if necessary logistics are put in place. It’s to get a slot in the second tier of Nigeria National league and watch them play their way to Nigeria Premier League. It will also improve the economy of Eruwa as well as Oyo state as teams all over the nation will be coming to Oyo State for their aways games.

Hotels will blossom as well as other businesses and there will be more recognition for Oyo state through one of the most profiting investments in the world called Soccer. Also as a close friend to Davido who is undoubtedly one of the biggest artistes in Africa, please influence the entertainment industry in Oyo state positively and massively. And lastly, with 10% of budget to go into Education as promised by Governor Seyi Makinde, the whole of Ibarapa has committed in your hands Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa, Oyo State College of Agriculture and technology Igboora, College of Education Lanlate and all government secondary schools and primary schools.

Sir, keep working with the Governor, Elders, all Oyo state communities and with Oyo State as an entity. Oyo state House of Assembly is an institution on its own and God will order your steps in directing it well.
God bless Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin
God bless Eruwa
God bless Oyo State
God bless Nigeria.
