Reno Omokri Drags Women Who Bleach Their Skin and Surgically Enhance Their Bodies, Glorifies Agbani Darego

Reno Omokri took to his Instagram page on Thursday morning, November 26 to throw jabs at women who bleached their skin and surgically enhanced their bodies.

Using former Miss World, Agbani Darego-Danjuma as an example, the former presidential aide averred that women do not have to bleach or undergo surgical enhancement to be pretty.

According to him, Agbani did not bleach her skin or undergo surgical procedure and she still ended up getting married, having a child, and is a ”source of joy to herself and her race.”

His post reads

”When you bleach and surgically enhance your body, you are not just saying ‘I hate myself’, you also teach young dark skinned girls to likewise hate themselves. No matter how many rich old men date you, you remain a danger to yourself and society! Love your dark skin. Live a life worthy of emulation. Look at your photos before you bleached. You were the epitome of beauty. A natural African woman. You do not need to be light skinned and have surgically enhanced features to be loved. You were already lovely. Look at @AgbaniDarego. The first and only Nigerian to win the Miss World Pageant. Black and beautiful. She did not bleach or surgically enhance herself. Yet, she is married, has a child, and is a thing of joy to herself and her race. A beacon of virtue and pride to the Black Race. Young Black girls can look at her and feel beautiful. Black is Beautiful. Say it with me-I’m Black and I am proud!”

Napoli to Rename The San Paolo Stadium After Late Diego Maradona

Napoli are set to rename the San Paolo stadium after the late Diego Maradona.

The Argentina football legend, who was the manager of Argentinian club side Gimnasia passed away aged 60 on Wednesday, November 25th, after suffering a cardiac arrest in his home country.

An autopsy report said he died in his sleep after suffering heart failure, only two weeks after leaving the hospital following surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain.

Medics also detected dilated cardiomyopathy, a medical condition in which the heart muscle becomes weakened and enlarged and cannot pump enough blood to the rest of the body.

Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, was the inspiration for Argentina’s World Cup success in Mexico in 1986, winning the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.

He also led the country to the final of the 1990 tournament in Italy although his international playing career ended in shame when he failed a drug test at the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

He played club football for Boca Juniors, Napoli, and Barcelona among others, and was adored by millions of fans for his football talent.

During his time with the Italian side, Napoli, he won the Serie A title in 1987 and 1990, along with an Italian Cup in 1987 and a Uefa Cup in 1991 during a six-year stint in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Speaking with French sports channel RMC Sport on Thursday, November 26, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said: “We can consider the idea of calling our stadium San Paolo-Diego Armando Maradona’ after the Argentine legend, who scored 115 times in 259 appearances for the club.

“We can consider the idea of calling our stadium San Paolo-Diego Armando Maradona,” De Laurentiis told French sports channel RMC Sport.

“We are already putting it together this morning, taking the first steps to dedicate Naples stadium to Maradona,” De Magistris said.

“Its a process but it will be a quick process, because when there is such a strong desire there’s nothing that will hold us up.”

The Mayor added: “We’re hoping to make it coincide with the resumption of games with fans.”

Nigeria’s Aisha Yesufu, Uyaiedu Ipke-Etim make it to BBC 100 Women 2020 List

The BBC has revealed its list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2020 and Aisha Yesufu and Uyaiedu Ipke-Etim made it to the list.

This year’s 100 Women is highlighting those who are leading change and making a difference during these turbulent times.

The list includes UK nurse, Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, who is of Nigerian descent.

She is an emeritus professor of nursing at the University of West London and a patron of the UK Sickle Cell Society.

She is a groundbreaking sickle-cell and thalassemia nurse who campaigned for a statue of British-Jamaican nurse Mary Seacole. She’s been a key figure in highlighting the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on BAME communities.

Uyaiedu Ipke-Etim, a Nigerian feminist film-maker, director and LGBTQ+ activist, who has committed herself to creating stories about marginalised groups in Nigeria, also made it to the list.

Her film If??, which means “love” in Yoruba, tells the story of two Nigerian lesbians navigating the harsh, homophobic realities of Nigeria. Following the announcement of the film’s impending release, it has faced state censorship in Nigeria.

Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian activist demanding good governance in Nigeria, also made it to the list.

Others on the list are: four-time Grammy award winner Angélique Kidjo, who advocates on behalf of children as a Unicef ambassador, Sanna Marin, who leads Finland’s all-female coalition government, Michelle Yeoh, star of the new Avatar and Marvel films and Sarah Gilbert, who heads the Oxford University research into a coronavirus vaccine, as well as Jane Fonda, a climate activist and actress.

And in an extraordinary year – when countless women around the world have made sacrifices to help others – one name on the 100 Women list has been left blank as a tribute.

My darling, I promise to allow you tell your story like I have been able to tell mine. I respect your perspectives and I understand.
