Gov Seyi Makinde Imposes 7pm to 6am Curfew, Reduces Public Gathering to 10, Suspends Inter- state Movements to Curb Spread Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has today imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on the state following the confirmation of two new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

He also suspends all inter-state travel from and into the state while also banning gathering of more than 10 people.

Gov Seyi Makinde in a series of tweet on Friday night made the disclosures while giving an update on the coronavirus situation in the state, adding that 84 Persons of interest have been identified, while contact tracing and collection of samples have commenced.

He also added that the state’s diagnostic center set up in collaboration with the University College Hospital is now ready.

"The COVID-19 confirmation test for two suspected cases have come back positive. The isolation process has been initiated. 84 Persons of Interest have been identified, and contact tracing and collection of samples have commenced.

The state’s diagnostic centre set up in collaboration with the University College Hospital is now ready. The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) certification is still pending but the Director General of NCDC has made a pre-statement about the molecular laboratory in Oyo State.

The index case remains stable and is still under observation in the isolation unit at Agbami Chest Centre, Jericho. The number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is now three.

As a result of this, I have directed that the following additional measures be put in place: a dusk to dawn curfew (7 PM to 6 AM); no gatherings of more than ten people should be held anywhere in Oyo State. From Sunday night, March 29, 2020, all markets will be closed except those selling perishable food items.

Also, inter-state transportation into and out of the state will be suspended except vehicles carrying food items, medical, pharmaceutical and petroleum products. This takes effect from Sunday night, March 29, 2020. All measures will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

As part of our COVID-19 sensitization programme, over 30,000 handbills in English, Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa have been produced for distribution.

We thank NPG Farms and Hatcheries for their donation of 1000 X 100 ml and 100 X 500 ml hand sanitizers to Oyo State. These will be distributed in markets from tomorrow,” Makinde tweeted".

Simi Announces Postponement Release Of New Song “Duduke” Over Coronavirus Pandemic

Nigerian sensational singer, Simi has disclosed that she would not be releasing her single “Duduke” anytime soon because of the coronavirus. 

While other artistes have gone ahead to release songs and albums, the “Selense” singer feels it’s not a great time to put out music. Her highly anticipated track, “Duduke” was scheduled to be released on the 26th of March, 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, Simi had to put its release on hold.

According to her, it didn’t just feel right to release a song during these hard times. Making the announcement on her social media page, she disclosed that her other project "RESTLESS II” would be released soon.
She wrote:

“I’m sorry – but it doesn’t feel right right now. Soon tho. Remember to stay safe. Duduke will come later – RESTLESS II will come soon tho"

Eruwa Youth Forum Opposes Alleged Plot Against Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin

The Eruwa Youth Forum has expressed dismay over the alleged report that some politicians in Oyo State tried to implicate Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin in an unreasonable issue in order to remove him.

The National President of the organization, Mr Oladejo Ajibola Muyiwa in a statement issued to newsmen in Eruwa called on all Oyo assembly honorables to support Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin's leadership as he is always working towards building a better working relationship between the Executive and Legislature.

Oladejo also made it clear that the alleged impeachment move against the Oyo Assembly leadership is a plot against Governor Seyi Makinde's administration. It's a plan to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in PDP and in the whole state. 

In his words, he said;

"At a time when the whole world is fighting a common enemy, COVID-19 and Governor Seyi Makinde's administration is doing great to combat the spread, then the unpatriotic ones feel it's a time to play dirty and unnecessary politics. This is shameful as this is a time when all hands should be on deck, this is a time when people's lives should be priotized".

Oladejo said the alleged plotters were hiding under the pretext of an issue that's not related to Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin at all.

According to him;

"Ostensibly, they claim to address what they term urgent state issue that's in no way related to Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, however their real purpose is to unnecessarily create tension in Oyo State House of Assembly".
