"I Have Atoned For My Mistakes" – Popular Gospel Musician, Lanre Teriba (Atorise) Says

Popular gospel artiste, Lanre Teriba aka Atorise, says he has atoned for his past sins and is now more serious with his relationship with God.

Atorise had been the butt of jokes and scandals as many felt that he lived an immoral life despite being a gospel singer.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he said, “We are all humans and there is no one that is above mistakes. He without sin should cast the first stone. There were some acts I engaged in which I regret and feel sorry for. But there is nothing I can do about it as I cannot go back in time to change the past. I have apologised to God and my loved ones and they have forgiven me.”

Responding to allegations that he is promiscuous, he said, “I had a child out of wedlock and I have apologised to my wife about it and she has forgiven me a long time ago. I don’t know why people cannot just forget about the past and move on.

Even people who do worse things behind closed doors would come out in public to castigate me. Let the people who have seen me taking women to hotels come out and tell the world. Like I said earlier, there are some things I did before which I am not proud of but that’s all in the past now. As long as the people close to me understand me, people can keep saying what they like.”

Speaking on how he comes about his songs, he said, “My songs are a product of the Holy Spirit’s inspiration. I am nothing but a vessel that is being used to pass messages to people. Sometimes, I like being in quiet environments so I can hear clearly from God. I thank God that I’ve been able to impact lives through my music. A lot of times, people come to me and tell me how my songs changed their lives, especially when they were facing tough times. I still have a lot I am working on and you would be hearing from me in due course.”

Armed Robbers Attacked Church, Beat Pastors, Guard, and Take Away Goods

Eight suspected armed robbers invaded the Mission House of the First Baptist Church, Surulere in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Thursday.

Rev. Solomon Gbenjo said two of the robbers entered his apartment and tied him with a rope while one of the robbers hit him with a belt.

He added that they later ransacked his apartment and collected money and other valuables.

According to the priest, before they entered his apartment, the robbers overpowered one of the night guards, attacked him with machete and inflicted severe injuries on his head.

Sources told journalists that the robbers operated for about three hours without any intervention from security agencies.

Gbenjo, who is over 60 years old said the robbers also invaded the apartments of two other pastors of the church, Rev. Tunde Ajayi and Rev. Biodun Olatide.

The priest said the robbers took from his apartment one HP laptop computer, one iPad, four handsets, N140,000 and other valuables.

He said, “They got to our apartment around 2am. They forced the door open. My daughter’s room was the first place they visited, my laptop was there with the receipt and the bag.

“Somebody was to come and collect N20,000 from her but unfortunately could not come. That was the first money they grabbed. They also took some of her wristwatches.

“When they had finished robbing her, they asked her to lead them to our bedroom. They asked us to lie face down and ransacked the house. As soon as they came in, they said they had killed one of the gate men. They threatened that if we did not cooperate, they would kill us too.

“They hit me with a belt. That was how the whole thing started. It caught us unaware.”
He explained that they beat up Ajayi’s wife and later stole N102,000, laptop, a mobile phone, bag and a flash drive from the Ajayis’ apartment.

It was learnt that the robbers took from Olatide’s apartment, a mobile phone two laptops, N133,000 and an undisclosed amount of loan he got from a Cooperative Society.

Some robbers had on the same day also invaded a Winners’ Chapel branch at Gaa Imam.

It was learnt that robbers in the past had also stormed some nearby churches at Oko-Erin belonging to Rev. Rahman Popoola, Christ Apostolic Church, Alabukun belonging to Prophet Adiro and seven other churches around Eyenkorin near Ilorin.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the attack. He stated that the police had commenced investigation into the robbery.

The billionaire can be seen in the video standing in front of his room before he went inside. He showed off the interior of the room saying:

"The room looks a little bit different from what it looked like when I was here but it's actually mostly the same."

He then showed off the desk where he sat when he programmed Facebook.

"This is where I programmed Facebook,” he recalled as he gestured toward a desk. “It took about two weeks."

Man Got Released and Work Free After 24 Years of Being In Prison Over A Crime He Didn't Commit (See Photos)

A Philadelphia man walked free this week after spending 24 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

Shaun Thomas' conviction was overturned Tuesday and he walked out of prison that same day.

The 43-year-old was just 16 when he was accused of participating in the murder of a businessman who was shot in 1990.

Thanks in part to the dogged efforts of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, the Conviction Review Unit from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office discovered a believed-to-be-lost file at the Philadelphia Police Department.

In that file were 36 pages of witness statements taken days after the murder for which Thomas would be arrested years later.

Those statements point to viable alternative perpetrators, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Innocence Project.

They also backed up Thomas' insistence all along he was at another court hearing when the crime was committed. However, alibi-proving logs disappeared from the juvenile correctional center and a jury didn't buy testimony from Thomas' mother and sister claiming they were with him at the time of the murder.

Had that information been available at trial — and had the story of Shaun’s presence in court at the moment the murder was committed been told correctly — prosecutors agreed the trial would likely have ended differently, the statement reads.

The Pennsylvania Innocence Project, along with attorney and former Philadelphia police Sgt. James Figorski, represented Thomas for eight years prior to his release.

"I feel wonderful," Thomas said as he left the prison in Frackville on his way back to his fiancee, mother, siblings, children and friends in Philadelphia. "Life's too short for that. I just move on forward."

Thomas got to use a cell phone for the first time and planned to eat the "Ultimate Feast" at Red Lobster as his first meal, according to CBS News.

The district attorney's office will decide at a hearing next month whether they intend to retry Thomas.

Okorocha Rejects Federal Government's Appointment Given To His Daughter (See Details)

Here's an official press release from the governor;

RE: THE APPOINTMENT OF MRS UJU ROCHAS ANWUKA INTO THE BOARD OF FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (TECH) OMOKU

-His Excellency Governor Rochas Okorocha Rejects the Appointment.

The attention of the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been drawn to the publication listing one of the daughters, Mrs. Uju Rochas Anwuka as a member of the Board of the Federal College of Education (Tech), Omoku.

And it is important to swiftly state, with every sense of concern, that the governor had read about the appointment like every other Nigerian because he was never consulted or briefed on the appointment and that is why the whole thing looks suspicious.

To the governor, the appointment was obviously not done in good faith. Whoever was the brain behind the appointment did so out of unbridled mischief. Otherwise, the person behind the appointment would have had the courtesy of either informing the father or the mother.

The truth of the matter is that the governor’s daughter does not need the appointment. The governor has therefore asked whoever was behind the appointment to withdraw it since the daughter would not have needed the appointment, even if he had not become governor.

Indeed, the governor has the feeling that whoever was behind the appointment did it with something else at the back of his or her mind, otherwise the person would have acted well his or her part by informing him or the mother or even the daughter herself.

The daughter and the entire family reject the appointment.

Sam Onwuemeodo
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor

Gunmen Opened Fire on Bus Carrying Christians, 26 People's Were Killed

There's a new report of a terror attack in Egypt. According to Egypt's Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Mugahed in a chat with TV al-Masriya, gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying Coptic Christians south of the Egyptian capital this morning killing 26 people and wounding 25.

The attack happened while the bus was traveling on the road to the St. Samuel Monastery in the Minya governorate, about 220 kilometers (140 miles) south of Cairo.

The ministry said there were between eight and 10 attackers dressed in military uniforms, according to witnesses. At the moment, no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes on the eve of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Egypt has been fighting Islamic State group-linked militants who have waged an insurgency, mainly focused in the volatile north of the Sinai Peninsula. Coptic Christians have faced persecution and discrimination in Egypt, which has spiked since the toppling of Hosni Mubarak's regime in 2011.

Dozens have been killed in sectarian violence. Coptic Christians make up about 10% of Egypt's population of 91 million. They base their theology on the teachings of the apostle Mark, who introduced Christianity to Egypt.

Woman Got Detained In Hospital After Giving Birth To Triplets Over N77,600 Unpaid Fee

A mother of triplets was reportedly detained in a General hospital in Benue State, over her unpaid medical bills two weeks after the children were delivered.

Facebook user, Ukan Kurugh, disclosed that the couple Mr and Mrs Dennis Anongo need the sum of N77,600 to pay the medical bills, before they can take their children home.

Below is what he wrote about the incident;

MR. & MRS. ANONGO RECEIVES A GIFT OF TRIPLETS FROM GOD BUT CANNOT GO HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY THE BILL OF N77,600: A PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR EMERGENCY AID. By: Ukan Kurugh

Successful delivery of children calls for celebration among parents, the story of Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Anongo comes with mixed feelings as his wife, Mrs. Kwaghaondo was delivered of triplets (2 boys and 1 girl) at the General Hospital, North-Bank, Makurdi. Amidst this joy, they have been unable to foot the hospital bill of Seventy Seven Thousand, Six Hundred Naira (N77,600), a reason for which the hospital has refused them departure.

While I was at the hospital this afternoon, one of the nurses, Sewuese who called my attention told me in confidence that, since birth, the children have not added in weight hence they were malnourished due to the mother’s poor feeding, which in turn has also affected them. It is incontestible that, at this time, enhanced feeding is deserved for a mother who has just put to bed and the nature of her feeding has overriding effects on the newborn.

The father of the children, Mr. Dennis Anongo is a peasant farmer who is resident at Atsom Village in Gwande District of Makurdi Local Government Area, a place located before Daudu on the Makurdi-Lafia road. The mother is but only a house wife who accompanies her husband to the farm.

The children which I gathered were delivered through cesarean session, which was done on the 10th of May, 2017 which means that they have been stayed at the hospital for more than 2 weeks now.

Feeding is equally a challenge, hence they are of rural domicile and all the visitors from the village only come along with either pounded yam, akpu or other forms of carbohydrate foods. This has equally affected the new born babies who have not added in size since over the 2 weeks of their birth.

I sincerely wish to use this medium to reach out to the government, humanitarian organizations, spirited individuals and all members of the public to add value to the lives of these new children who are for now been starved and suffered. It’s indeed an uncommon thing of joy that the children have come, but this challenge has countered the smooth happiness the family would have celebrated.

The father Mr. Dennis Anongo can be reached on mobile: 09096571784.

God bless us as we once again, touch lives, amen.”
