Police Officer Go Free After Allegedly R*ped Wife's 13yrs Old Apprentice (Photos)

In Ogun State,  a policeman who was accused of defiling his wife’s apprentice, has been released after being detained for two days.
According to reports, It was learnt that the policeman, Abbey Adewunmi, was apprehended by the Ogun State Police Ifo Division on Thursday, April 4, 2019 after allegedly evading arrest for weeks.

It was also learnt the he defiled the 13-year-old girl, Tolu (not real name), sometime in February 2019 and threatened to kill her if she divulged the information to anybody.

But later the girl summoned up the courage and informed her mother, Boye.

The woman told the correspondent that Tolu was living with her at the Cement area of Lagos after she separated from her husband.

Boye explained that the girl was in Junior Secondary School Two last year when her father insisted that she should relocate to Ifo, Ogun State, to live with him.

The mother said;
“She was not comfortable at her father’s house and came back to me. I then took her to my aunt’s place in Orile.Her father insisted that I must bring her back, which I did. She was in JSS 2 before she left for her father’s house. He said he did not have money to enrol her in a school. That was how she started learning tailoring at Ifo.”
Boye stated that at a point, the father said Tolu would no longer live with him because he was usually away from home.

She said they decided she should be living with her master, who also agreed to the proposal.
“In February 2019, I talked to my daughter on the phone through her friend, who is also an apprentice at the shop.It was during our discussion that my daughter told me her boss’ husband forcefully had sex with her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anybody.When my brother heard of the incident, he said we should report it to the police and a human rights group. The case was reported at the Ifo Police Station.” She added
Boye later informed that she was under pressure to drop the case.

The victim, in a chat with City Round, said she was washing some plates at the backyard that fateful day when the policeman took her hostage and allegedly defiled her.

She stated;
“I’m 13 years old. I was learning tailoring at Ifo and living with my boss. I got there in November 2018.On February 2, 2019, my boss was not around and while I was washing plates at the backyard in the evening, her husband came and suddenly held me in the neck. He had sex with me there. His wife arrived and met me crying. I told her what happened but the man denied it.”
The victim’s aunt, Tosin Olofin, stated that the police wanted to sweep the case under the carpet.

She said;
“The police are begging that they don’t want us to sue him. They have frustrated my sister (Boye) so much that she had decided to back off. The man was released without our knowledge.”
Adewunmi, however, denied the allegation when our correspondent contacted him on the telephone on Friday.

He said;
“It is false. My mistake was that I assisted the girl to live with my family. The result of the test carried out on her showed that she had been having sex for long. All this happened because of the misunderstanding between my wife and me. I was released on bail and I have been talking with the family of the girl.”
When called last Friday for comments on the case, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, promised to contact Adewunmi’s boss for details on the matter and get back.

The PPRO said he had yet to have a breakthrough when the correspondent contacted him subsequently.

City Round learnt that the case had been brought to the attention of a human rights organisation, Esther Child Rights Foundation, based in Lagos.

The Director of the foundation, Mrs Esther Ogwu, said the case was reported by the victim’s mother.

She, however, expressed worry that the woman was being intimidated to let go of the matter and urged the police not to brush the alleged crime under the carpet.

INEC Revealed Why Sen Adeleke Cannot Be Given Certificate Of Return Yet

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has states the reason why Sen Ademola Adeleke cannot be given certificate of return yet. Said it can issue a certificate of return to Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) only if Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state fails to appeal the judgment of the tribunal that sacked him within 21 days.
INEC, on Monday, March 25th 2019, debunked rumours that Sen Adeleke had been issued a certificate of return.

According to reports, the election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, March 22, nullified the election of Oyetola and declared Adeleke winner of the 2018 governorship election.

The INEC national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye, said;
“Section 143(1) of the Electoral Act gives a candidate whose election is set aside a period of 21 days from the date of the decision to appeal against such a decision.
The person is entitled to remain in office pending the determination of the appeal. The commission will only issue the certificate if appeal is not lodged within 21 days. The commission has not issued any new certificate in relation to Osun State.”
It previously reported that the election tribunal judgment on Osun 2018 governorship election ruled in favour of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The three-member bench of the tribunal led by Justice Ibrahim Sirajo, delivered its judgment at the Federal High Court, Apo, Abuja on Friday, March 22.

The petition was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Adeleke, challenging the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the gubernatorial polls held in September 2018.

Senator Adeleke and the PDP had put forward a total of 20 prayers including prayer asking to be declared winner of the election and be issued certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

I Commend Adeleke - Obasanjo Reacts to Osun State Election

Nigeria Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has reacted to the victory of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and its governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, at the Election Petition Tribunal.
The State’s Election Tribunal on Friday declared Adeleke as winner of the 2018 governorship election over Oyetola of APC.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in a statement he personally signed on Saturday, commended Sen Adeleke for going to court to seek justice, and also criticized those discouraging the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, from going to seek redress in court, saying they are of evil mind.

Read the full Statement below;
“While I was in Dubai to attend the Global Education and Skills Forum meeting, I received the news of the judgment of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal declaring Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the 2018 Governorship election in the state.Let me take this opportunity to commend the tribunal for its courage in nullifying what was clearly an illegality. This action by the judicial officers, albeit a first step in the legal process, gives renewed confidence in the judiciary at a time when there are coordinated efforts by some political leaders to undermine, if not destroy, it.As I have repeatedly said, the world is watching events in Nigeria with keen interest. What we do or do not do right in our electoral process will have implications not just for Nigeria but for Africa and indeed the world. By correcting what was clearly a desperate attempt to change the will of the Osun people, the tribunal has saved Nigeria from great embarrassment and started the process of saving and strengthening our democracy.Let me also commend Sen. Adeleke for his statesmanship in going to court to seek justice. This is the right and proper thing to do in any decent society. Going to court must be encouraged and not discouraged as some people are now attempting to do.While I have refrained from commenting on the 2019 elections because one of the parties has gone to court, may I point out that those who call themselves our development partners and friends and preach sacrificing justice on the altar of so-called stability are enemies of justice, democracy and Nigeria.We will continue to sustain Nigeria in stability and unity on the altar of justice, equity, fairness, freedom, human rights and democracy. Stability cannot be successfully built on injustice, corruption, inequity, and divided nation, and incompetence, nepotism and one-sidedness. Nigeria will march forward with or without those who will want to feed us with diet of values and actions that are not acceptable in their own countries.Nigeria is of age. And if Buhari could go to court three times to seek justice, even without reasonable cause, any Nigerian who feels denied of justice must feel free to go to court.Those who have conceived and are promoting the narrative that if AtikuAbubakar continues to seek legal redress there will be violence, are evil minds looking for excuse to unleash violence on Nigerians. At no time in history has sustainable peace been built on theft, injustice, corruption and inequity.These merchants of chaos and violence should have no place in any decent society. And they must know that no intimidation or prophesy of violence and doomsday will cow anybody. Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians. We will respect as friends those who believe that what is good for their country should be good for Nigeria.Yes, we are Africans but we have values that are consistent with international standards. Court is part of our democratic process and it must be used when necessary if only to achieve justice, stability, unity and progress for our country.”
