Wickedness; Couple Torture Little Girl With Hot Iron In Lagos State (Photos)

A guardian, Mr. ThankGod Madubuchi, and his wife, Juliet, have been arrested by policemen from the Ilupeju division, for allegedly torturing a 10-year-old girl, Chinansa, with a hot iron.

According to report, Chinansa was ThankGod’s niece and she had been living with his family at their house on Anjorin Street, Mushin, Lagos, for some time.

ThankGod and his wife, juliet were alleged to have always assaulted the little girl over minor offences, as appeals from neighbours fell on deaf ears.

Matter came to a head on Tuesday, September 5, when the couple used a hot iron to torture her. She was reportedly accused of licking powdered chocolate beverage (tea) without permission.

The couple were said to have locked her up in the house, which drew the attention of residents who alerted officials of the Lagos State Domestic and S*xual Violence Response Team.

An official of the agency revealed that neighbors attested to the regular abuse of Chinansa.

He said, “The abuse had been going on for a long time. We were informed that in the past, the man’s wife used razor blades to cut her in different parts of the body because she mistakenly tore her (Juliet) clothes. The neighbors didn't raise the alarm that time because they thought the couple would change until the one that happened on that Tuesday.

“The girl was accused of licking powdered beverage without permission and the man used a hot iron to torture her. He then locked her up in the house without taking her to a hospital. Residents, who feared for the girl’s life, alerted the DSVRT.”

Policemen from the Ilupeju division arrested the couple as two officials of the DSVRT and an officer of the Child Protection Unit rescued the victim from the house.

The couple were arraigned before a family court at Ogba Chief Magistrate’s Court on counts bordering on child abuse.

The couple, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, were granted bail by Chief Magistrate T. Akanbi.

While Juliet was granted bail on self recognition because she was nursing a six-month-old baby, the husband was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

A DSVRT survivor advocate, Mrs. Tumininu Oni, appeared in court with the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Roseline Ilekhue, who was represented by one Inspector James.

The case was adjourned till September 20, 2017.

14 Properties Belonging To Ex-FCT Minister & Son Been Seizes By EFCC

EFCC says it has seized14 properties located in “choice areas” of Abuja traced to the immediate past Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, and his son, Shamsuddeen.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)stated this in a court application filed by one of its prosecutors, Mr. Ben Ikani.

The application, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 11, 2017, sought the interim forfeiture of the properties.

The anti-graft agency stated that although it had “recovered and seized” the properties, they could not be forfeited to the Federal Government without a court order.

EFCC said both Mohammed and his son “have denied ownership and connection” to the properties.

But the commission maintained that “preliminary investigation has revealed that the properties listed on the schedule are unlawfully acquired through corrupt practices by the former minister and his son while in office as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.”

The properties, according to the EFCC, included one “mansion” located at Sunrise Estate, Asokoro, Abuja; and three sets of four-bedroomed semi-detached duplex at Green Acres Estate, Apo-Dutse, Abuja.

Others were two sets of four-bedroomed fully-detached duplexes each with boys’ quarters on Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, a trekable distance to Transcorps Hilton Hotel Abuja.

Also listed as part of the seized properties was a four-bedroomed detached duplex with boys’ quarters located at 9, Platinum Luxury Home White Estate, Asokoro, Abuja.

Title documents attached to the EFCC’s application stated that some of the facilities in some of properties included “excellent road and drainage network; dedicated transformer; borehole for constant water supply; fitted kitchen, bedroom cabinet and wardrobes; ample parking space; and children playing ground.”

The rest of the properties are plots of land in six different locations in Abuja.

Already, the EFCC is prosecuting the former minister before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, on six corruption-related charges, and his son, Shamsuddeen, before the Federal High Court, Abuja, on 15 counts of money laundering and failure to declare some assets.

The charges against Shamsuddeen involve about N1.1bn.

Recall that two high courts in Abuja had in February ordered the former minister and his son to forfeit 10 properties located in Jabi, Garki, Maitama and Jahi and other areas of Abuja.

Nigerian Top 10 Football Players Of All Time

There are many things that Nigeria lacks. But football talent is not one of them. Right from the time the country gained its independence till the present day, it has been a force to reckon with in the world of football. It was Nigeria’s exploits in the Atlanta Olympic tournament in 1994 that made one of the highly rated football analysts to declare that the future of football belongs to Africa.

Nigeria 1994

However, before the era of the dream team that took the world by surprise, several Nigerian players have been doing wonderful things both in the national team and club levels. So, below is a list of the 10 best Nigerian footballers of all time. Below is the full list of the footballers from number 10  to number 1..

(10). Stephen Okechukwu Keshi

Stephen Okechukwu Keshi of blessed memory cannot be left out in the list of the best footballers that Nigeria has produced. Born in the Bauchi state of Nigeria in 1962, he started playing football at a very tender age. He was among the highest scoring defenders, and also did his defensive job excellently. The longest serving Nigerian captain was among the pillars of the Nigerian team in the 1994 world cup. Participating in five CAF Nations cups, he won one as a player and later won another as a coach, making him the second person to make that record. He played for Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasbourg, Sacramento Scorpions and a host of many other clubs.

(9). Teslim ‘Thunder’ Balogun

He was the most popular footballer from the country in his era. He made giant strides in the country’s football, and since 1949, his popularity has soared. His shot was one of the strongest then, and that was why he was nicknamed ‘Thunder’. He was actually the person that opened the door for Nigerian professionals to play in foreign clubs, as he was the first to achieve this with FC Peterborough in the UK. He made the country popular in the world of football. That explains why the Lagos state stadium is named after him.

(8). Emmanuel Amunike

He was always the guy that scores the decider in matches, and this made him very popular. It was him who gave the African cup of nations to the country in 1994 with his decider. When Nigeria came to the world cup for the first time in 1994, he also scored two important goals. In the national team, he recorded more successes than any other player, winning the AFCON in 1994 and the Olympic Gold in 1996. He played professionally for Barcelona FC, Sporting Lisbon and Zamalek, winning the CAF player of the year in 1994.

(7). Taribo West

Many people will remember him for his look and character. But when it comes to being tenacious as a marksman, just point the player out for him, and he will make sure the player achieves nothing in the pitch. He was so effective in man marking and one on one defense and was among the gold medalists in the Atlanta Olympics. He has since been ordained a pastor, even though he was so fetish during his playing years.

(6). Segun Odegbami

He was so good in tactics that he was nicknamed the mathematical Odegbami. He started his career in Jos, Nigeria and played for the shooting stars of Ibadan till he retired in 1984. During these years, he featured for Nigeria 46 times and scored 23 goals. It was him that led Nigeria to their first Nations Cup triumph in 1980. He also intended running for the FIFA presidency, but later dropped the intention.

(5). Sunday Oliseh

He had a long spell that was characterized by success. He is among the best the country has produced when it comes to the defensive midfield position. During his playing days, he had stints at Juventus, Dortmund, and Ajax. It was his goal that gave Nigeria victory over Spain in the 1998 world cup that was hosted by France. Spain was among the favorites for the tournament. But Nigeria beat them 3 goals to 2. He had 4 goals in his 63 games for the country.

(4). Victor Ikpeba

The prince of Monaco is unarguably among the best Nigeria has had. You don’t get to be named the prince of such a football club and city if you are not very good. He was so lethal in the French Ligue 1 that his skills were told wherever he goes. He scores amazing goals with his heavy shot, making him rack 84 in 102 appearances for the French club. In the national team, he was voted the CAF player of the year in 1997, and also picked a gold medal with the dream team in the 1996 Olympics.

(3). Rashidi Yekini

He remains the man with the record of the all-time highest scorer for the country. He was so prolific in attack that defenders are always afraid of him. In 70 appearances for the country, he scored 37 goals. He started playing for the shooting stars at his young age, and later moved to Vitória Setúbal in the Portuguese league where he won the highest scorer with 34 goals in 32 appearances in 1993-1994. He got the first world cup goal for Nigeria, won the 1994 nations cup with the country, and became the highest scorer of the tournament.

(2). Austin Jay Jay Okocha

He is one of the best two the country has had. He was so skillful that world best players like Ronaldinho were learning from him. He started his career early enough, and at 20, he was already playing for Nigeria national team. He played in the 1994 world cup, and was a runner up in CAF player of the year award two times. He later won the BBC footballer of the year. He has been listed by Pele as one of the best 125 living players. He is the 12th best player in Africa, and scored the 1000th goal in CAF. His club playing experience took him to PSG, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City.

(1). Nwankwo Kanu

He remains the best export from Nigeria in terms of football. He was a player with the most significant showings, and scored goals when it matters most for both his country and the clubs he played for. ‘Papilo’ as he is popularly called, started playing in his local league club, Iwuanyanwu National. He featured in the 1993 Under 17 World Cup, and was the captain of the team that won the gold medal in Atlanta 96, scoring the golden goal that gave Nigeria the medal. In club football, he has more trophies than any other Nigerian player, winning the Champions League, Uefa Cup, three Fa Cups and the English Premier League. For Arsenal, he is the 13th greatest gunner of all time. He was also phenomenal with Ajax and Ac Milan.

No More Strike For Now - Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its 10-day-old strike for two weeks to monitor the level of federal government’s compliance with the agreement reached.

The two weeks period is to afford the doctors enough time to further discuss with federal government to arrive at final solutions to the contentious issues.

The doctors would, however, resume the strike if the discussion with the government fails.

The national executive council of NARD took the decision at its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night to appraise the implementation of its agreement with the government.

The chairman of NARD UCH chapter, Segun Olaopa, said “the decision was reached following appeals from the public that the doctors should give the federal government more time to meet their demands”.

Doctors had appealed to Nigerians to bear the situation as members of the association were pressing government to improve the healthcare delivery system in the country.

NARD embarked on a nationwide indefinite strike to press home a six-point demand.

The association had on September 6 laid out terms of settlement with the federal government after the two parties met to resolve the crisis.

The doctors are protesting sack of some of their colleagues, non-payment of “skipping’’ entitlement, non-inclusion in the IPPIS platform and non-payment of their salary arrears.

The federal government had agreed it will pay the arrears and commence the inclusion of NARD members on the IPPIS platform.

Strike Commenced From Friday - United Labour Congress threatens

The United Labour Congress (ULC) has threatened that workers in Nigeria would embark on an indefinite strike if the Federal Government failed to meet its demands by Friday (tomorrow).

The threat came barely two weeks after the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment responded to the workers through a letter, which the ULC said “largely failed to adequately address the critical issues raised in our demands.”

The union issued the strike threat after an emergency meeting of its National Administrative Committee, which was held jointly with the National Strike Committee in Lagos.

In a statement signed by the ULC President, Joe Ajaero, the union urged Nigerians to take precaution and stock up necessities, saying, “The strike will be very effective as we hope to cripple all modes of transportation within the nation; ensure a total blackout nationwide; cut off petroleum product supplies; and disrupt banking operations, which will make life a bit more difficult for Nigerians.

We regret these consequences on all of us, but we hope that these measures will help us create a nation that is better governed for the benefits of Nigerian workers and Nigerian masses.”

Ajaero said that the strike had become necessary having earlier issued a 14-day ultimatum to the FG as a result of the decision of the Central Working Committee meeting of the congress on August 22, which expired on September 8, 2017.

He said that in view of the government’s rejection of the demands within the 14-day ultimatum, the ULC ordered an immediate issuance of a 7-day final strike notice, which would expire on Friday.

He added, “This course of action, though very painful to us at this time, is the only alternative available to us as we have exhausted all known peaceful processes towards an amicable resolution of the dispute.

“We, therefore, call on all genuine patriots to join hands in solidarity with us to urge the Federal Government and state governors to be kind enough to meet the demands of Nigerian workers and masses.”

The Demands
The demands of the union include the immediate payment of all arrears of salaries owed workers at all levels of government without exception.

Ajaero added that other demands were that “the Federal Government honours its 2009 agreement with university lecturers under the umbrella of ASUU quickly and commences negotiations with them on new issues so that our universities will re-open.

“The roads leading to all the petroleum refineries and depots nationwide be repaired by government to avoid the present carnage, wastage of products and properties on these roads.

“That the government should demand that the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment set up a task force immediately to carry out factory inspections as most of our factories are death traps.”

The workers are also demanding an immediate review of the privatisation of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, among others.

Confession of Cult members Who Sells Human Hands For N5,000

Two suspected cult members in Ogun State have confessed that they sell human hands for N5,000 each to raise funds for their operations.

The suspects - Oluwaseun Odueh, aka Cleff, and Wasiu Adejumo, aka Bomber - both members of the Eiye Confraternity, were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Zonal Intervention Squad in the Ibogun area of the state.

The suspects, who were also accused of being robbers, were arrested with three herbalists, including a traditional ruler, who allegedly bought the hands of the victims.

The herbalists, Ifatona Akanni, aka Ajana Oro; Isiaka Ajani and Oko Musa, said they had bought seven hands from the cult members, adding that each was bought for N5,000.

Those killed by them were identified as one Tunde, who was beheaded at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Railway Line, Ogba Ayo, Ijoko, in 2016, with his two hands cut off.

Also killed were one Lateef, Kehinde and Yinka, in the Ijoko area between 2016 and January 2017. The hands of the men were cut off.

The police said on May 28, 2017, three men were also killed at Candozo Hotel, Fadahunsi, Ijoko, around 8pm, while in June 2017, two people were killed at Ogba Ayo Junction and Agoro Junction, Ijoko, with their hands missing.

One of the suspected cult members, Odueh, said all victims were members of the Aiye Confraternity, a rival cult, adding that they were killed during reprisals.

He said their hands were sold to herbalists to raise funds for the activities of his gang.

He said, “Supremacy clashes between the cults started about six years ago in Ijoko. The Aiye cult killed our members, Godogodo, Fele, Callous and others. Each time they killed them, they cut off their hands. We had to retaliate by doing the same thing to them.
Initially, we were throwing away the body parts. But when we realised that we needed money for our activities, we decided to make enquiries on what we could do with the body parts. That was how we started cutting off their hands and selling them. I have been involved in the murder of four members of the rival cult.”

The 32-year-old said he became a cult member due to the oppression he suffered as an undergraduate of a university in Ogun State, adding that he joined the gang in his community when he finished from school.

The second suspect, Adejumo, who confessed to be an Internet fraudster (yahoo boy), said he was part of the squad that killed two members of Aiye cult he identified as Kehinde and Lekan Welder.

The 30-year-old said a fight between two leaders in the Ijoko area led to the increase in cult killings in the community.

We killed Kehinde and Lekan Welder because they killed our members and cut off their hands. They killed Fele (Sunday) and Callous, a final year student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. They also killed Godogodo and Rati. We sell the hands to herbalists,” he added.

One of the herbalists, Musa, said he had bought three hands from the cult members, adding that he had paid N10,000 and was owing them N5,000 balance.

He said, “I am a herbalist. I also consult Ifa and Opele for my clients. I met these boys when they came to worship Ogun at my shrine and since then, they had sold only three hands to me; both dry and fresh. I use the hands for asiri bibo (fetish blessing). I bought each hand for N5,000. I gave them N10,000, and owed a balance of N5,000.

The second herbalist, Akanni, 53, said he had bought two hands from the men for the same purpose.

When Punch asked him how he knew the part was useful for the purpose and who his clients were, he parried the questions, saying the charm didn’t work.

The third herbalist, Ajani, who is the baale of Ososun village, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, said the cult members introduced themselves to him as land speculators, adding that they later brought two hands which he bought for N10,000.

Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said Odueh was the first to be arrested.

She said, “Odueh was arrested on August 23 by the ZIS team during a patrol at about 2pm in the Ibogun area of Ogun State. On interrogation, he confessed to belonging to the Eiye Confraternity and said he was also a member of an armed robbery gang. We subsequently arrested other members of the gang.

The police recovered three locally-made cut-to-size guns, seven live cartridges, and human parts processed into concoctions and powder for fetish use from the suspects.

“The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Adamu Ibrahim, has ordered that the suspects should be arraigned in court.”

Reasons You Should Never Receive Phone Calls With Your Right Ear But Only With Your Left Ear

I'm sure you have heard about the fact that you should use only your left ear to answer phone calls for some reasons or maybe one reason (the hoax is all over the internet by the way).

According to some researchers, the Apollo Medical Team to be precise, your brain is closer to the right ear, so if you use the right ear to answer phone calls, then your brain will be more prone to radiations (remember they told us that radiation gave rats cancer the last time. Wow!!!).

So, your favorite health blogger took his time to dig out some skeletons, to find the truth about which ear you should use to answer your phone calls, is it left or right?

Now, it makes more sense to answer phone calls with your left hand because your right hand could necessarily be busy, but that should not be a must.

So, according to online and offline sources, you can answer your phones calls with any ear or hand you choose.

The research done by the Apollo Medical Team did not carry any evidence that should make you panic in anyway.

What about radiation to my brain?

Actually, you shouldn't be worried about that, instead you should be worrying about the phone you are using (if you permit me to say worrying).

The image below shows radiation pattern in talking positions. At (a) 0.8 GHz, (b) 1.8 GHz with the right hand. At (c) 0.8 GHz, (d) 1.8GHz with the left hand.

As you can there is no difference in radiation patterns even if you answer with your left ear or right ear or even if you put the phone on your head (Wait! that is not an option).

So, what you should be worried about. The phones you are using. And it is not the radiation you should be worried about, but getting the best signal.

Here are some graphs I was able to dig out you should look into.

Yea, you may not understand all that, well I didn't understand it all either. But here is what you should note.

Some phone brands work better on the right side while others on the left side. So in case you are falling to get a good signal you might want to switch over.

For example HTC Desire performs better on the right side for all band. iPhones depend on the frequencies for better performance, same goes for many phone brands like Sony, Samsung, Xiaomi and Nexus.

Note: if you phone is less than 10% then the phone receives maximum radiation, you should be careful about the amount of radiation you absorb to reduce the risk of having health complications, so its better to charge it up or switch to another battery.

So there you have it. A bit technical, but I hope I simplified it enough for you all.

Effective Ways To Have A Safely Driving In The Rain

Driving in the rain can be very stressful and dangerous because it will be very difficult to see the road and conditions may be terrible. Hence, you have to be extremely careful so that you do not get your car stuck in a ditch or involve in an auto-crash.

This is because the wetter the road, the more the accident. In line with this, Below are 6 useful tips for driving safely in the rain.

(1). Slow down
Like earlier said the road condition worsens when it rains. As such, slow down no matter how late you are to your destination. This is safer because you are less likely to be involved in an accident if you slow down.

(2). Check your wipers
Many Nigerian drivers do not check their wipers until it rains. This is really unsafe. The wiper is important as it helps you to get rid of water on the windshield. So, ensure that all your wipers are working and in good condition.

(3). Turn on your headlights
It is not only in the night you turn on your headlights. You also need it when it rains to help improve visibility.

(4). Dry the brakes
Wet roads mean wet brakes, and the four wheel discs on most cars can be coated with water just when you need them most. This can result in the malfunction of your car. Luckily, some cars automatically touch the pads to the rotors to remove water but you can do this too by gently touching the brakes after splashing through a wet spot.

(5). Don't charge into ditches at high speed
Charging at high speed into ditches can get your car stuck, allow water to find its way into your engine and you can splash water on pedestrians. If your car gets stuck or water finds its way into your engine, you are on your because nobody will be ready to help except you will offer money. As for splashing water, Nigerians will simply reign curses on you.

(6). Inspect your tires
You cannot say when it will rain but you can spot obvious signs it will. Check your tire to ensure that it is not overinflated. The rule is to ensure that the tire is in a good state so that it won't become slippery since the road is likely to be so when it rains.
