Another Law Added to Brideprice In Sokoto - (No Mosquito Net, No Wedding)

An upcoming law in Sokoto state, which mandate potential suitors to add insecticide-treated mosquito nets to the brideprice they pay before getting married.

The couple will also have to undergo testing for sickle cell gene and enrol for a state community contributory health scheme to reduce the cost of medical treatment, according to the law.

Sokoto health commissioner Balarabe Kakale said the law makes it compulsory for couples to undergo testing for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B.

The state health ministry is to sponsor a private bill before Sokoto legislature.

But that will not come until a seminar agrees on the position of the law, Islam, and culture on premarital testing.

Kakale said the measures were meant to reduce the menace of the diseases in Sokoto

Where Notorious Kidnapper, Evans Kept His Victims Been Revealed (See Photos)

House 21 Prophet Asaye Close is a bungalow and sits at the end of the road. The floor of the compound is covered with interlocking stones. Carved on the gate is the sentence ‘Jesus is Alive'.

Asked about the activities in the compound, a source said: “They (abductors) kept to themselves. The guy there, whenever he was driving in from outside, the gate would have been opened before he got to the gate. In addition, loud music was always wafting from the bungalow. This always muffled every noise coming from there. This happened mostly in the day time. In the night, of course, the generating set would take over. So, we (neighbours) could never have known what went on there”.

No wonder his wife says he reads Psalm 23 always. Evans took his deceitful act too far. Lol!

3 Great Benefits of An Android Phone Over An iPhone

It is of no doubt, that Android and iPhone are two populous smartphones being used nowadays but Android seems to be the most popular mobile phone in high demand in the mobile market. This theory can be asserted by picking randomly 10 smartphone users in which there are high chances that 7 would be using Android while the remaining 3 might be using an iPhone.

Here are some benefits of an Android Phone over an iPhone:

1). Sharing Files Made Easier With Other Devices
Imagine a situation where you happen to discover some files on your friend's phone and when the latter agree to share with you, then comes the trouble of iPhone comaptibility as we all know it's not easier sending files from an iPhone to a device that is not an iPhone.

However if it's an Android phone, i can easily receive files from other device using Bluetooth or Xender app. Like Aderola15 can easily share "The Wedding Party Movie" from her chinko phone to my Android phone through bluetooth whereby reverse is the case on an iPhone. Even To connect to a computer self requires the itunes Software where all an Android phone needed is a USB Cord.

2). Affordability
If you're thinking of getting an iPhone, you'll need to prepare an amount of 100k to 200k and above whereby you can get an Android phone with N15,000 to N75! Yet, that doesn't mean you're limited to enjoyment ooh.

Meanwhile With your Android phone, you can Whatsapp Tracy, Video chat with Jude, Hit Tope up via facebook messenger, Surf Nairaland with Chrome/Firefox, and LOTS MORE! Indeed, Android had made things lots more easier!

3). Faster Technology Advancement and Upgrade
When it comes to advancement and upgrade, Android mobile phones moves faster than iPhone and this is simply because Google developed it and gave other manufacturers ability to make devices with the OS unlike iPhone which are only made by Apple!

All Commissioners and Top Officials In Abia State Been Sacked By The State Governor

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has dismissed the state executive council, including commissioners and special advisers as well as senior special assistants.

The Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mr. Onyii Wamah, announced the dissolution in a statement posted on the government’s website on Friday night.

According to the permanent secretary, the governor retained his Chief of Staff, Mr. Sunny Nwakodo, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku and Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Chief Umeh Kalu (SAN).

No reason was given for the dissolution but there are speculations that it was after the commissioners and other officials presented their scorecards at a forum attended by the governor between May 28 and May 29.

The statement also announced the appointment of three special advisers to the governor, including the former Commissioner of Works, Mr. Eziuche Ubani, who was appointed as the Special Adviser on Works and Project Monitoring.

Others were Mr. Emma Nwabuko and Mr. Solomon Ogunji, who were appointed as Special Adviser/Personal Secretary to the Governor and Special Adviser on Urban Renewal, respectively.

Last month, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State also dismissed his entire cabinet members in what was said to be a strategic bid to restrengthen his administration.

Sport: Bellerin to Donate to Grenfell Tower Victims

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has said he will donate £50 to victims of the Grenfell Tower fire for every minute he plays for Spain at the European Under-21 Championship.

Flames engulfed the 24-storey council housing structure in north Kensington in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Police have said that at least 58 people are missing presumed dead.

For every minute I play in #U21EURO I'll donate £50 to help Grenfell Tower victims. Please support in any way https://t.co/CHbqgnlSum pic.twitter.com/TODwIkLwj1
- Héctor Bellerín (@HectorBellerin) June 17, 2017

Bellerin is expected to start when Spain play Macedonia on Saturday. They will also face Portugal and Serbia in Group B.

The 22-year-old's eventual contribution could exceed £22,500 should Spain reach the final.

Bellerin's pledge follows Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling donating to help those affected.

Sterling grew up in north-west London and began his career in the youth team of Queens Park Rangers, whose Loftus Road Stadium is around a mile from the scene of the disaster.

England defender Ryan Bertrand also pledged to help the victims of the blaze, saying he would visit the local Rugby Portobello Trust next week.

The 27-year-old, who spent a decade on the books at west London club Chelsea before joining Southampton in 2015, said in a series of posts on his official Twitter account: "I went to Grenfell Tower yesterday.

"I want to help, not just donate. I can't think of all the answers but I can do what I feel is needed. Starting with rehousing the victims, and making sure they don't leave the W11 post code. And remain on the emergency housing list.

"Monday i will be around [the Rugby Portobello Trust] putting this plan into action. From 10:30am until progress has been made."

Tech: LG G7 and V30 To Be Launch Ahead of Scheduled Unveiling

It is being anticipated that LG’s upcoming flagship phone, the LG G7, may come out as early as January next year. This latest news comes after a report emerged in The Investor, which claims that LG has decided to schedule the launch of their next flagship phone a few months before what they had originally planned, to compete against rival smartphone companies like Samsung.

The previously launched G6 was unveiled in March this year, to lacklustre reviews. LG had the ill luck of releasing the device after the S8, and while it was a decent phone in itself, it can’t compete with the likes of the Galaxy S8

but to get an edge over their rivals, this time the LG G7 can be released ahead of their usual expected timeline of February every year. The report suggested that the development on the LG G7 had started back in May 2017.

The LG G7 may feature its own AI based digital assistant on board and could have the Snapdragon 845 processor, however, all this is just speculation and there is no official word from LG about the specifications.

It is also expected that LG will be launching the V30, which is suspected to be the successor of the LG V20, by around August this year, which is again earlier than their launch of V20 last year. The V30 has been rumoured to have a dual selfie camera setup, 6 GB of RAM, alongside a modified Snapdragon 835 processor tipped to be called the Snapdragon 836 processor. There have also been talks of DAC audio technology and a metallic body. Again, these specs are just rumours and the wait is on for LG’s official word on the matter.

Popular Ghanaian Actor, Majid Michel Says He Is a True Servant of God

To give his numerous fans across Africa the assurance that he did not declare himself a born-again Christian and a pastor for selfish reasons, award-winning Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel has stressed that he is a true servant of God.

Apparently responding to cynics and critics alike, who had earlier dismissed his claims of being a pastor as a ploy to preserve his popularity among movie fans on the continent, Majid, who had been preaching about God and the Christian faith on social media, recently noted on Instagram that his motive was not to seek the attention of anyone.
Quoting directly from the scriptures, he wrote:
“Am I now trying to win the favour and approval of men or that of God? Or am I seeking to please someone? If I were still trying to be popular with men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.”
Considering the intensity of his passion for the gospel nowadays, it is becoming clear that the actor, who is now addressed as Evangelist Majid Michel, may decide to dump the screen for the pulpit anytime soon.
As proof that he may well be destined for the switch, Majid was a guest speaker at a three-day Leadership Summit organised at the Strong Tower Parish of the Fire of Life Ministries, a Christian organisation, in Benin City, capital of Edo State, last May.

Also, sharing his experience on the set of Emem Isong’s ‘Ayamma’ in an interview with a correspondent in October, 2016 the actor had revealed his real motive as a born-again actor when he said, “I have just realised that the authority of Jesus Christ must be asserted in every culture and tradition.

“I believe that Jesus came to purge these cultures and to take them away. Also, He came to take away our traditions and to replace them with His kingdom on earth. I believe that the real culture is the way of God.”

Majid is not the first popular celebrity to become a Christian evangelist or pastor and he won't be the last. More people are realizing that we are not just in this world to have fun, mess around, die and be buried. There's more to it; you are here to serve the Sovereign God or do otherwise and be rewarded for your deeds at the end. May the Lord help us all.

Sad: Star Wars Actress, Carrie Fisher Is Dead

Actress Carrie Fisher’s death was caused by sleep apnea and other undetermined factors, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office revealed on Friday, according to multiple reports.

The coroner also said Fisher suffered from atherosclerotic heart disease and “drug use,” but no specifics were given. According to the Associated Press, the report stated Fisher had taken multiple drugs prior to her death.

“The manner of death has been ruled undetermined,” the report concluded.
In an exclusive statement to People, Fisher’s only child, Billie Lourd, addressed the report.

“My mom battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it. She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases.

“She talked about the shame that torments people and their families confronted by these diseases. I know my Mom, she’d want her death to encourage people to be open about their struggles. Seek help, fight for government funding for mental health programs. Shame and those social stigmas are the enemies of progress to solutions and ultimately a cure. Love you Momby.”

The actress, best known as Star Wars’ Princess Leia Organa, suffered a heart attack at the end of last year. She was flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in the hospital, just one day before her mother, Debbie Reynolds, passed away.

Fisher had long been open about her struggle with bipolar disorder and substance abuse issues, starting at only age 13 when she began smoking marijuana.

She said she later dabbled in drugs like cocaine and LSD.

Important Lessons To Learn From Notorious Kidnapper, EVANS’ SAGA

Life always offers a window of repentance to an evil doer. But most of them do not recognise such opportunities and what comes afterwards usually spells doom for them. Evans was said to have had a brush with death in a particularly deadly operation, which decimated some of his group members. That experience should have sobered him up. The wasted lives of his colleagues should have taught him that it could have been him but NO…Evans went to regroup and even began to name his price in hard currency.

For every evil deed…the comeuppance is ‘sure’ to come. It’s a matter of time.

‘It’s mostly on borrowed time’...this is what I thought to myself as I looked through the pictures of his exotic interiors. Even the tooth brushes in Evans’ bathroom spelt ‘dollars’. Yet, the sad realisation is that the day he was captured is most likely his last time with such luxury. What then, is the point of it all?

Blood money’ comes with sleepless nights.
The extent he went with ‘security and precautionary measures’ doesn’t leave anyone in doubt that every ring of his door bell sends his heart to his mouth. If it costs your rest of mind…it is not worth it.

Evil minds are incapable of going down alone. Anybody who has the mind to inflict unimaginable ‘suffering’ on another can never spare you (no matter how close you are to them) - when push comes to shove. If they have to go down, you are coming along. Did Evans hesitate before ‘singing’ about the participation of his wife (yes the mother of his five children) in his ‘business’?

Every ruthless criminal is a coward at heart. Some of the pictures show that Evans actually peed on himself-when he was captured in his bedroom.

‘‘Evans the kidnapper’’ was the most ‘googled’ words (from this side of the world) when he was captured. But a lot of that curiosity is actually out of ‘awe’ by some people who couldn’t believe Evans’ ‘luck’ before now. And it shows that a lot of people (in this environment) have skewed orientation towards vain glory and wealth acquisition.

The ransom that Evans collected from some of his victims is enough to liquidate even a Dangote.

Most people are not worth your envy...there could be more to that ‘enviable’ lifestyle.

When your time is up…even life will help push you to your end. Think of the premonition that made Evans relocate his family to Ghana, the forces that brought him back and made him plan his proposed escape to South Africa only a day late.

Blood money/Ill gotten wealth? Their ‘vanishing’ can be the easiest. Evans had been amassing his ill gotten wealth for about a decade but it would take one fell swoop (in a matter of hours) for him to lose practically everything.

You have no right bringing any child that your name will become a STIGMA on- into this world. What you are giving to such a child is a ‘life time trauma.’

If Evans ends up going down alone. Life must go on for ‘wify’. Always think about this whenever an unreasonable spouse tries pushing you into doing ‘the questionable’.

If all that ingenuity, passion, hard work and dedication in doing evil (over that length of time) was channelled positively…Evans would probably be amongst the richest Nigerian youths today. For every effort expended on dishonest means…a better reward rests with the opposite.

Suspect a spouse who maintains no ties with any relatives…especially parents and siblings.

Every ‘bad person’ wants to repent when caught. Anyway, Evans can rot (sorry ‘repent’) in jail…there are ‘born-agains’ there too!
