Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose Says He Won’t Ban Okada Riders

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described plan by the federal government to ban commercial motorcycle, popularly known as Okada in the country as wicked, saying;

"In Ekiti State, we won’t ban Okada because it is a source of livelihood to a lot of families. Why would anyone even contemplate such when government did not creat alternative employments?"

He added;

"With this economic recession that is biting so hard, it is sheer heartlessness for the federal government to even think of sending Okada riders out of business instead of putting machineries in motion to check their excesses".

According to a statement issued on Sunday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose, who was addressing Okada riders that accosted him in Ikere Ekiti, on his way from Abuja on Saturday, said “ban on Okada will worsen the country’s security situation because it will remove foods from the table of so many people".

The governor, who promised Okada riders in Ekiti State his continued support and assistance, said;

"The federal government has no power to ban Okada in my State and under my watch, no one will prevent Okada Riders from operating as long as they do not go against the laws".

Governor Fayose said;

“The hunger in the land is killing and most of these Okada riders are graduates who have taken to commercial motorcycling to survive because of unemployment. Many of them are even those who lost their jobs within the 21 months of this All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government and government workers, whose salaries are not being paid regularly. How does the federal government expect them to feed if their means of livelihood is taken away?

“If commercial motorcyclist is a major cause of fatal road traffic accidents across the country, as posited by the federal government, should proposing their ban be an option? “Should we also say motor vehicles, especially heavy duty vehicles should be banned from plying our roads because they also cause accidents?

“Methinks the federal government should be concerned with the rate of unemployment in the country and the deplorable state of our roads, especially federal roads, instead of seeking to deprive Nigerians, who have taken to riding Okada to save themselves and their families from dying of hunger.”

"Prepare For Bio-Terrorism" - Bill Gates Warns

On Saturday, February 18, 2017, Bill Gates spoke at the Munich Security Conference in Germany where he said:

"It's time to redirect some of the money the world spends on weapons to prepare for a looming threat: terrorists with pathogens. He's warning that the threat of bio-terrorism is "right up there with nuclear war and climate change".

He says it's now necessary for the world to prepare for what he considers to be one of its largest existential threats: the next pandemic.

"Whether it occurs by a quirk of nature or at the hand of a terrorist, epidemiologists say a fast-moving airborne pathogen could kill more than 30 million people in less than a year. And they say there is a reasonable probability the world will experience such an outbreak in the next 10 to 15 years" he said.

The most recent pandemic was even more deadly than that, Gates pointed out. A flu outbreak that occurred naturally killed between 50 million and 100 million people in 1918.

"I Don’t Want to go Back to The Bottom" - Famous Nigerian Rapper, Olamide Says

Talented Nigerian rapper, Olamide, is undoubtedly one of the hottest artistes in the country at the moment. He ended 2016 with the release of his sixth album, Glory, and a concert in Lagos which was a sell-out success.

Even though the Bariga-born star has a son named Batifeori Maximilliano, not much is known about the woman in his life.

In an exclusive chat with Sunday Scoop, Olamide offered some insight into his love life.

With a smile lighting up his face, he said, “I’ve actually been in a relationship for about 17 years now. As a matter of fact, she’s the most important reason I am where I am today. Her name is music".

On what has been his driving force over the years, he said, “My major motivation comes from knowing that I came from the bottom, and I don’t want to go back there. I want to live a good life, and because of that, my working life is a relentless grind. I don’t want to go broke, and I don’t want anybody to look down on me. I’m still on top of my game because I don’t see myself as everything. I take advice from my mum, manager, and label mates, and they always help. They’re responsible for some of my ideas. Some things that people see and think is all about Baddo is actually their brainwork".

He said, "I didn’t start out to be an average artiste, I wanted to stand out. Right now, I’m living my dreams. All I can say is that my life right now is a dream come true".

Popular Nollywood Actor, Femi Adebayo Narrates Why He Leaves His First Wife

Though, many people don't know this, but it is no longer news that talented actor, Femi Adebayo, took a second shot at matrimony last year as he was joined with his sweetheart, Omotayo Maimunat Sanusi, as husband and wife.

The actor who had been married before with three kids finally decided to take another spouse after about seven years of divorce.

The wedding which held in Ilorin, Kwara State, was attended by lots of celebrities in the movie industry. Many of Femi’s fans were unaware of his marriage plans until pictures of the wedding surfaced on the Internet.

According to Adebayo, the low-key plan was intentional.

He had said, “The decision is best for us as I have been on the lane before and my wife has never been. I have to protect her privacy at all cost, please we pray for the understanding of our friends and my beloved loyal fans. I appreciate you and please your prayers and support is all we need".

The actor had also maintained that he wanted to keep his private life private.

However, he told Sunday Scoop that he is having the best of times in his marriage.

“I don’t like talking about my marriage because I have the right to my privacy.

Even though I am a celebrity, and lots of people always want to know what’s going on with me, my fans understand why I have decided to shield my wife from public glare. But I can tell you that I am really enjoying my marriage and it is pure bliss.

I was without a wife for seven years and you know what that means for a man, but now, I am happy that I made the right decision,” he said with a glow on his face.

Giving a hint into what led to the demise of his first marriage, Femi said, "When it comes to marriage, it is important to be with someone who understands you and accepts you totally. My first wife was uncomfortable with my profession as an actor, but that is what I love doing.

Acting gives me joy and I will continue doing it as long as I can. I cannot imagine myself doing anything else without being miserable. I studied Law but I am not practicing it and that should tell you that I am following my passion".
